Ok, so on my desktop i have this virus

-it blocks access to windows update so i cant update
-it blocks access to security sites
-someone says if you stop and start DNS client u can download the patch, but I cant stop or start it

i have antivirus from MS, but it wont detect it.

and i downloaded the bitdefender scanning tool, from a sharing site, and it didn’t detect this malware (it was designed to check for this virus), but i have ALL of the symptoms of this virus.

so can someone tell me how to remove it? should i download the patch and burn it on to a disk or what?

can someone show me some other removal tools i can download and burn onto my disk?

also i heard that it updates everyday, is unplugging the internet cord for a few days, than applying the patch and removal software from a burned cd a good idea?

It’s grounded French war planes, it’s convinced the U.S. government to put a 250,000 dollar bounty on the head of the creator, it’s stopping people from updating on Microsoft, downloading antivirus software, stopping virus scans, copying itself invisibly, spread itself all over the world in thousands upon thousands of computers in several countries, and as we speak it’s growing more and more resistant, and awaiting orders from it’s creator. Today is it’s launch date, and today people are on alert. Even Microsoft is spooked: http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/viruses/worms/conficker.mspx and though they claim that using their quick scanner, then downloading their Malicious Software Removal Tool, then downloading the update, experts and even governments are worried about it’s capabilities. But the infamous launch date has arrived (April Fool’s Day) and it hasn’t unleashed it’s wrath on us yet. So, tell me…Is it just one huge April Fool’s Day prank, and we should treat it like it’s Y2K, or should we really be preparing for the cyber apocalypse?
Nothing happened, but April 1st isn’t over yet. Also, people are convinced that even if nothing happens today, it doesn’t mean that this date wasn’t a decoy. April 1st may be a day for us to freak out, then let down our guard. But , maybe it’s the biggest prank since the Taco Bell Liberty Bell.

Check your anti-virus and run a scan ASAP. The virus is known to go through social networks such as Facebook and sites like we are on right here. It has attacked 10 million computers as of now.
I know that most of you keep up with your anti virus and updates. I am not intending to scare any one, but read this online.
Don’t open email attatchments with VBS, SHS, or PIF. Never open attachments with double file extensions such as NAME. BMP. EXE or NAME.TXT.VBS. You can read the information at CNET and clicking on antivirus software. It was on the news tonight with information on how to check for it. The report says to never accept attachments from strangers in online chat systems such as IRC, ICQ or AOL instant messanger.
I hope this information helps some of you casual computer users. I know the tech savvy people know all about this, but most of us just go online for fun.
Sorry…I said CNet, but on the local news tonight. It was CNet I went to to check for information on virus protection. I am not a computer wizard, and hope that someone who knows more can give more knowledgable information than an old geezer like me knows. I am just a casual computer user for fun and enjoyment and just want to make other casual users aware.
Don’t click on suggested websites here, but check it out yourself.
    Great suggestions, Isotope! Thanks!

need help on this problem, its especially bad when i’m running other programs and trying to listen to music. it also has a skipping effect on my cursor, its not a memory problem cause i have 1GB and i used to be able to run a whole bunch of stuff and it would be just fine – its not a virus or spyware either. Help is appreciated
