I have windows vista on my Acer Extensa 5420, and I have a HP Photosmart C4280 printer with a C4200 #6 scanner.
I have about 200 pages to scan, and it takes really long to scan each page. I need to scan each one as fast as possible. I am trying to edit the settings but the vista settings make it very tedious and annoying to modify the speed.
I know when I had this printer/scanner hooked up to an old dell with windows XP I could change it where the scanner scans the image in black and white and it came out so much faster.
Thanks for all your help!!
My wifi network uses MAC filtering and doesn’t broadcast a SSID. Connections are set up manually and set to connect whenever the network is in range.
My Vista Home Prem laptop doesn’t reconnect to the network if I go out of range and then come back, even if I disable/re-enable the adapter and scan for wifi networks in range. I must restart the laptop to reconnect. (very annoying!)
My XP laptop connects fine when I leave and come back in range, so I assume it must be something with Vista. How can I fix this without compromising the existing security measures I’ve taken?
Thanks in advance.
Hi every one, I have Windows vista home premium as OS and 1022GB RAM on my computer. I have noticed that when i start my machine 60% of my RAM is occupied it then goes down and stabilise at 54% without me performing any action. I found it fischy because in my task-manager the task consuming at most (often iexplorer.exe) takes in average 66,000 KB and there are not many as such. Have I got a hidden BAD-program in my computer? (i´v scanned it with avast antivirus and everything is said to be alright) I am not an expert in the domain and i hope to find an answer here.
Regards
alright so i need help making my hp printer able to scan things i put in it to send to the computer..
this is what comes up when i click scan..
Scan options are not set. Install or run device software on computer.
ok so what do i do?
i have a HP psc 1315 ( 3 in 1 printer)connected and working fine with drivers up to date. I have no problem printing. But when i try to scan picture it doesn’t respond.
i went in the control panel and found my scanner, in the properties i see the option to tell my computer what to do when i press scan but it says that i have no applications registered for this event.
i just downloaded photoshop element 7.0 but not sure if it’s what i need.
thanks in advance
I need to scan some documents into my computer which is Windows Vista Home Premium using my HP all in one printer but for some reason i cant seem to find a program for it that is compatible with vista. Help Please I really need this to work!
I am in ubuntu linux right now. What command do I do to scan and quarantine (not remove) viruses it will find in vista. I need it to scan the whole partition. Using ClamTK only does a folder but non of the sub-folders.
Both with avast and clamAV.
PS: needs to be done in terminal.
I know how to do the mounting part a long time ago. How do I scan the whole thing?
I got 1gig of RAM with vista home premium, and its always up a little over halfway, Ive disabled alot of services but I still dont have alot of free RAM!
How else can i get more free (without buying more).
And also, i noticed my CPU, has been staying at around 10% constantly, i just did a full virus/spyware scan, but it didnt find anything new.
I am trying to fix this weird issue with a HP HPC 1610 All-in-one printer installed on Vista Home Basic. I can scan pictures, but cannot print. In fact, the printer won’t even show if I go to Printers (Start -> Control Panel -> Printers). One thing I must mention is that the black cartridge is out. But that should not stop me from seeing the printer.
What I have tried so far:
Went to this site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=390315
1. Uninstalled all the HP software and reinstalled the printer driver from the HP website
2. Tried to run the “Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue” (from the link)
3. Tried to run the HP Printing Diagnostic Utility (also on the same page as above)
For #2 it said that I don’t have the correct printer. Clearly it is a HP HPC 1610 I have and the update (if you click on the above link) is for it – so it’s a mismanaged patch by HP I assume
For #3, the diagnostic utility installed successfully, but I wasn’t able to select this printer (or any printer) from the drop-down box.
Please help me if you have any idea what’s going on. I am clueless.
Thank you.
Hi guys, I’m currently having the “USB Device not Recognized” problem. Basically I hear the window sound as if a USB was detected/unplugged and it totally throws off my keyboard and touchpad (sluggish response, buttons on keyboard aren’t being pressed, very slow).
After long days of researching I have only got closer, and still without a solution.
more info about the USB device not recognized: http://smokeys.wordpress.com/2008/05/31/windows-vista-usb-device-detection-problems-how-to-fix/
Seems as if the infcache.1 file is corrupt, however after I deleted it, my problems remain and remain to annoy. I’ve also tried unplugging my laptop’s battery and plugging it back in. The solution works, but is temporarily, the USB detected noise of hell alarms me that my nightmare is not over.
ATM, I can’t afford to buy an external hard drive (I’m a college student) but intend to when I have the money so I can reformat my computer back to factory stage.
I have been missing my nights of sleep trying to fix this problem, and living with this handicap as I fight my way through homework (typing up essays are hell, designing on programs are colder than winter) and finals… my last and final option and theory is that it’s a virus or trojan of some sort and I can’t seem to find the appropriate anti-virus program to fix it.
I have used avast for a long time, fixed a trojan/virus that nearly rendered my home computer useless over the summer. I was hoping this would be a solution to my laptop but I guess not, the lovely boot scan is not capable with vista 64 bit and doing the normal scan still doesn’t fix the issue.
My computer specs below:
Processor: Intel® Core™2 T9400 2.53GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
Operating System: Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium (64-bit Edition) with Service Pack 1
Memory: 4GB« Dual Channel DDR3 SO-DIMM at 1066MHz – 2 x 2048MB
System Drive: Single Drive Configuration – 160GB 7,200RPM (8MB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection
Thank you for taking the time to read my rant!
