Way back in the day i used Photoshop 7.0

( i think… its the one that has the opening loading sequence with the eye with the camera lense over it)

my AMAZING and Beautiful girlfriend Janae just bought me a Freaking New Laptop and i want to get back into PShopping, but i dont know what is the most recent:

i specialize in photo manipulations; hair, face, eyes, cropping, lighting, leveling, etc. etc.

but i also work with deviantart.com so i want something that has the right tools to draw and create as well as edit my scanned drawings

    (i need to get a tablet…)

i dont do anything with 3D models or video.

im not an expert or die hard fanatic (i.e. i dont have the time to take full advantage of a $300 program) but i Am a believer in the saying “You get what you pay for” so i dont mind paying for something if its worth the cost

ive seen Adobe PhotoShop 8, Photoshop Elements, and CS4 but i dont know what to choose for my specific usage or if i should be even looking at those.

    any help would be appreciated!
    thank you always

    Jonathan

CS4 is the most recent i believe. It is what i use and is a great piece of software

Adobe Photoshop CS4 is version 11.0 (i.e., the 11th major release of Adobe Photoshop). and is the latest now.

You have Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended

You can compare Ps CS4 Editions here:

CS4 is the latest version. Elements is the “lite” version, meant for beginners.

Some people complain that the Creative Suite versions are too complicated, or have made too many changes. Indeed, the brush tool alone has been heavily redesigned. Quite a few people have stuck with version 7, so if you still have the install disc, it’s an option.

In any case, Paint.NET is a pretty good free option. Not as many filters, less complicated layering.
